Piñon Makko incense is a warm and woodsy scent handmade of Makko, Palo Santo, and Piñon.

Ingredients:

  • Makko: Derived from a Japanese cedar, Makko is a traditional ingredient in Japanese incense making. Makko means 'incense powder' and comes form the Machillus thunbergi tree which is an evergreen native to South East Asia.
  • Palo Santo: Known as “holy wood”, Bursera graveolens is a wild tree found in areas from Mexico to Peru & belonging to the same family as Frankincense and Myrrh. This tree produces incredibly aromatic and hypoallergenic resin that only grows stronger in concentration with age.
  • Piñon: The Pinyon or Piñon Pine tree is a small pine tree with edible seeds and is native southwestern US and northern Mexico. The fragrant Piñon Pine scent creates a forest atmosphere for those longing for the all-natural scent of an evergreen grove.

Incausa is a Social Entrepreneurship located in Brooklyn, NY and is focused on collaboration with artisans living in the Amazon Basin. The incense is purchased directly from a small village in northern Peru and is certified by the Peruvian government.

A note about Palo Santo... Palo Santo is heavily endangered. It was important that we carry Incausa-brand incense as they work with tribes and farms approved by SERFOR protective services of Peru. Harvested only from fallen wood (opposed to clear-cutting) to ensure respect for the laws to prevent profiteering from illegal harvests.
